Defenders of the Faith: To Know, Love, and Serve Christ and His Church

We have a confident hope this year at OLA that God wills for us to have & keep 60-80 men from the parish in the “Defenders of the Faith: Men’s Discipleship Group” for the whole year (Oct 22-May 26); and to grow in knowledge, love, and service of the Holy Trinity in and through the Catholic Church.


Meeting Structure:
7:30pm - Opening Prayer - Bible Teaching
7:50pm – Fellowship Pillars Check-In – Small Groups
8:05pm - Defense of the Faith: Testimony or Apologetic - 5min
8:10pm - Second Beverage & Closing Prayer & Fellowship
8:45pm – End


Team Structure:
• Teams of 5-10 Men
• Regular Contact with Team Members
• Weekly Check-In with Fr. Thomas
• Monthly Fellowship: getting to know each other’s families
• Monthly Holy Hour: need for regular Adoration

    • Morning Offering to re-centering each day on what is most important
    • Person, Identity, Dignity, Grace
    2. Word: Scripture & Tradition
    • Reading the Word Daily
    • Weekly study or spiritual reading
    3. Sacrament: Worshipping & Liturgy
    • Mass on Holy Days if Obligation
    • Monthly Confession
    4. Prayer: Vocal, Meditative, Contemplative
    • Daily Rosary or DMChaplet
    • Weekly Holy Hour in Adoration
    5. Obedience: Ten Commandments & Christian Virtues
    • Nightly Conscience Examen
    • Rule of Life & Biggest Virtue
    6. Communio: Fellowship & Friendship
    • Weekly Intentional time with wife, kids, or family/friends
    • Weekly fellowship with accountability brothers to talk about rule of life
    7. Evangelization: Works of Mercy & Kerygma
    • Weekly commitment to some ministry in the parish to build from within
    • Monthly/quarterly event (or regular personal) outreach to non-Catholics/poor
